Overview

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to help shape the future of Microsoft’s rapidly growing commercial platform. As part of the Commerce Core team, you will help build and operate world-class commerce experiences for customers and partners, working on highly strategic and industry-relevant projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
In this role, you will tackle complex engineering challenges, writing high-quality code to build robust, reliable, and highly distributed software systems using the latest technologies. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside highly talented engineers to develop systems that support all Microsoft businesses and third-party partners to go to market across all channels—consumer, enterprise, direct, and partner—and in all clouds. You’ll be empowered to envision, design, code, validate, and deploy key features with substantial customer impact. You’ll collaborate with teams across the company to gain broad exposure and diverse technical experience.

•    Develops and tests computer software applications, systems, or services that support business and customer needs.
•    Evaluates requirements, estimates development costs, and continuously improves the development process.
•    Performs unit testing, communicates progress and risks, and integrates software into larger systems.
•    Diagnoses and resolves technical issues, ensuring high-quality, maintainable solutions.
•    Works autonomously on specific software features or components, contributing broadly to product development.
•    Participates in early product definition, scoping, detailed specification, implementation, and release.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 
    • OR Master's Degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. 
  • Experience developing and maintaining high-performance, highly available, and reliable services.
  • Ability to collaborate on technical projects using written documentation and code reviews.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance engineering effectiveness, coupled with a strong curiosity and commitment to continuous learning in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
