Job Overview
This role owns how T-Mobile understands, controls, and gets value from every dollar and every seat it spends on AI — and builds the programs that do it. On the cost side, you'll design the showback and chargeback models for token spend across our GenAI platforms and LLM spend for our agents, then build the cost-optimization model, and the tooling to support it, that keeps spend efficient as usage scales. On the license side, you'll own the license management program across OpenAI, Anthropic, and Glean — who's eligible, verifying the right people hold seats, standing up and tearing down licenses for pilots, and reclaiming what's unused. It's one mission from two angles: every unused seat reclaimed and every token optimized is value returned to the business. As AI spend grows into a major enterprise investment, you're the person who makes it visible, fair, and optimized by design. Success looks like every leader knowing exactly what their AI costs and why, anomalies flagged before they become surprises, and cost views feeding the Council measures dashboard — not a dollar or a seat going to waste.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design the showback and chargeback models for token spend across GenAI platforms and LLM spend for agents.
  • Design and build the cost-optimization model, and bring in the tooling to support it.
  • Own the license management program across OpenAI, Anthropic, and Glean — eligibility, seat verification, pilot licenses, and reclamation.
  • Attribute cost to the teams and value driving it, and reclaim unused spend and seats as a standing discipline.
  • Monitor user and workload cost across platforms and agents; flag anomalies to platform and product owners before they become budget surprises
  • Feed cost views and token attribution data into the Council measures dashboard; support leadership reporting on AI spend trends
  • Partner with platform engineering, Finance, and business owners to ensure cost attribution is accurate and chargeback models reflect actual usage
  • Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of related work experience OR Advanced degree with 3 years of related experience (Required)
  • Acceptable areas of study include Computer Science or a related field. In lieu of a degree, equivalent industry experience may be considered. (Required)
  • 4-7+ years of experience in financial analysis, cost management, technology spend optimization, or vendor/license management. (Required)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Agile Methodology
  • Mentorship
  • Requirements Analysis
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Cost Attribution & Chargeback Modeling
  • Anomaly Detection & Cost Monitoring
  • Vendor & License Management
  • Financial Reporting & Dashboard Development
  • Technical Writing
  • Troubleshooting
  • Cost Modeling (Showback & Chargeback)
  • Cost Optimization Program Design
  • License & Seat Management

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with AI/LLM platform cost structures (token-based pricing, per-seat licensing)
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, Glean)
  • Experience with FinOps practices or cloud cost management frameworks
  • Knowledge of financial chargeback or showback methodologies in enterprise IT
  • Familiarity with data visualization or dashboard tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
