Position summary
T-Mobile is America’s supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Sr. Engineers, Software located in Frisco, TX will work with a team of other software developers and network and systems engineers to design, implement, and deploy software which meet customer's requirements, scales easily, removes the limitations of traditional networking solutions, and supports deployment in highly available environments.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design architecture of various software components focused on creating applications that leverage technologies such as virtualization, micro services, SDN, NFV, and Big Data platforms and technologies.

  • Complete technical assignments that are complex, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

  • Work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative, understanding implications of those assignments and makes recommendations for solutions.

  • Expert in system protocols, how AWS systems operate and data flows, aware of current technology benefits, independently develop a full software stack, understand the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work. Independent study of current technology is expected. Interact with system engineers to define system requirement and/or necessary requirements for automation.

  • Drive engineering projects by developing software solutions; conduct tests and inspections; prepare reports and calculations.

  • Contribute to designs and new frameworks to implement existing and new system/process/service.  Apply new industry perspectives to our existing business model, review existing designs and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workload more effectively through industry perspectives.

  • Write basic documentation on how AWS services technology works; create clear documentation for new code and systems used; document systems design, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the manager level.

  • Collaborate with technical teams and utilize system expertise to deliver technical solutions.

Specific Skills Requirement - must have educational or professional experience in:

  • Experience (1) Experience in designing and developing highly available, scalable and distributed systems in AWS using services including EC2, VPC, Amplify and AppSync.

  • Experience (2) Experience coding in Java, Python and Node JS.

  • Experience (3) Experience using various databases including Oracle, SQL Server and Mongo DB for systematic collection of data.

  • Experience (4) Experience creating CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as a code using CloudFormation, Terraform, and automated deployment.

  • Experience (5) Experience with containerization using Docker and application monitoring tools and techniques including CloudWatch and Splunk.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or related, and three years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or related, and five years of relevant work experience.

Telecommuting is permitted, but applicant must work from the worksite location at least 3-4 days per week. No additional national or international travel is anticipated.

Candidate’s pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience. At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
