The Details
As a Surety Underwriting Intern, you'll work alongside experienced underwriters to learn how surety bonds support economic growth, commercial development, and infrastructure projects. You'll gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, risk assessment, and relationship management while helping businesses secure the bonding capacity needed to pursue opportunities and fulfill contractual obligations.
Throughout this 11-week internship, you'll develop an understanding of how underwriters evaluate financial strength, assess business risk, and make informed decisions that help customers grow and succeed. In addition to hands-on work, you'll participate in a structured internship experience that combines formal training, mentorship, job shadow opportunities, and professional development. You'll also be introduced to the Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) curriculum, gaining foundational knowledge of surety underwriting and the surety bonding process.
This position may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.

Our Summer 2027 Early Talent internships are a set 11-weeks in length, with 2 options for start/end dates. Limited exceptions to these start/end dates may be considered on a case-by-case basis: May 17, 2027 - July 30, 2027 or June 1, 2027 - August 13, 2027
Qualifications
What you've got

• You are pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or comparable with at least one semester remaining following the Summer of 2027 with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA .
• You have 0-2 years of professional experience.
• You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
• You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service and fostering relationships.
• You must be available to work full-time for 11 weeks
• You must have permanent work authorization in the United States

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
