We’re looking for a Head of Compensation to shape and lead MNTN’s compensation strategy as we grow. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll advise senior leaders on everything from base pay and incentives to equity, bringing a clear, data-driven approach to how we reward performance.

This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone who knows how to turn complex compensation challenges into smart, scalable programs. You’ll lead compensation planning, benchmarking, and compliance, with a strong focus on building effective sales incentive plans that drive results while keeping our programs competitive, equitable, and aligned with MNTN’s talent philosophy.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and lead MNTN’s company-wide compensation strategy, including salary, bonus, commission, and equity programs.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the Chief People Officer and executive leadership on all compensation-related topics.
  • Design and recommend commission structures and variable pay plans that align with sales strategy, performance metrics, and business objectives.
  • Own compensation benchmarking, job architecture, and market analysis to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Lead the preparation of compensation reports, insights, and recommendations.
  • Manage annual and ad-hoc compensation planning cycles, including merit increases, promotions, and incentive payouts.
  • Ensure all programs comply with applicable compensation laws and regulations across jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Revenue, and People teams to align compensation initiatives with company goals.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing compensation team to support MNTN’s scale and future growth.

What Success Looks Like

  • MNTN has a scalable compensation strategy that rewards performance, supports growth, and reflects our talent philosophy.
  • Compensation decisions and planning cycles are consistent, data-driven, equitable, compliant, and delivered on time.
  • Sales commissions and variable pay plans are competitive, easy to understand, and aligned with business goals.
  • Leaders have a trusted compensation partner and a strong team equipped to support MNTN as we scale.

What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in compensation, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience reporting to and working closely with executive leadership.
  • Deep expertise in variable compensation design, including sales commission structures.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation analytics, modeling, and benchmarking practices.
  • Experience managing compensation in fast-paced, high-growth, and global environments.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
