Overview

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to join the Finance Data & Experiences (FD&E) organization and help drive reporting modernization, process improvement, and data-driven decision making across Microsoft Finance.
In this role, you will partner with Finance stakeholders, Engineering teams, Data Analysts, and Business Program Managers to deliver scalable reporting and analytics solutions that improve operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and speed to insight. You will support initiatives spanning financial reporting, planning, forecasting, budgeting, headcount management, and process automation.
The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly organized, and passionate about using data and technology to solve business problems. You will contribute to the design and delivery of finance solutions while learning to influence stakeholders and drive projects from requirements through deployment.

Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Support the planning and execution of reporting and data modernization initiatives.
  • Gather and document business requirements from Finance stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements and user stories.
  • Partner with Engineering and Analytics teams to help deliver reporting and automation solutions.
  • Assist with backlog management, sprint planning, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validation efforts.

Business Partnership

  • Build relationships with Finance stakeholders to understand reporting challenges and opportunities.
  • Help identify process inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
  • Participate in requirement reviews, stakeholder meetings, and solution discussions.
  • Communicate project updates, status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.

Data & Reporting

  • Support initiatives involving financial reporting, forecast reporting, budget planning, and headcount reporting.
  • Analyze reporting processes and identify opportunities to improve data quality and usability.
  • Partner with data teams to investigate and resolve reporting issues.
  • Help ensure solutions meet business and compliance requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to increase productivity through automation and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Contribute to process documentation, training materials, and adoption plans.
  • Participate in operational excellence and reporting governance activities.

Innovation & Process Improvement

  • Champion automation, AI, and modern reporting capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify business processes and increase organizational efficiency.
  • Mentor less experienced TPMs and contribute to program management best practices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, Business, or related field AND 2+ years of experience in program management, project management, business analysis, data analytics, software engineering, or related disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, FP&A, or related business functions.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Excel, or enterprise reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with process automation and AI-enabled productivity tools.
  • Experience working with financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, or headcount reporting processes. 
  • Experience working with data, reporting, business intelligence, or analytics solutions.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills. 

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
