Symbl.ai’s office stands in the heart of Seattle’s business district, kitty corner to the Seattle Art Museum and Central Library and mere blocks from the weathered boardwalk of city’s iconic waterfront. At a six minute stroll from Pike’s Place, it’s safe to say this emerging AI company has its ear to the ground of the Emerald City.

Fortunately for current and future Seattleites, Symbl is hiring.

The voices of the seafront city drive Symbl’s core mission: to solve some of the challenges that arise in human communication. The Seattle company develops AI that allows computers to understand and respond to natural human conversation in a genuine way — a valuable commodity for AI-driven customer support and beyond.

Built In Seattle sat down with Kira Hunter, a business development and growth associate at Symbl, to learn more about the buzz around conversation AI — and how future employees can get in on the discussion.

What they do: Symbl.ai is an artificial intelligence (AI) company that provides deep tech AI and machine learning developer tools. Symbl.ai aims to enable builders to quickly and easily deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning to access conversation intelligence.

Why I love Symbl: “I decided to join Symbl.ai’s ‘Symbl for Startups’ program after getting to know our diverse leadership team and realizing just how much company culture and employee wellness is prioritized internally.

“Although I am in both a remote and nontechnical role, I feel welcomed and supported by everyone here on a daily basis. I am also super lucky that my role involves creating content for businesses that use our API platform — and I have a ton of fun doing it.”

What we’re working on: “My first official project at Symbl.ai has involved talking to early-stage founders who are using Symbl.ai’s API platform to accelerate their go-to-market strategies, and I have been incredibly impressed with the creative and varied use cases I’m seeing.

“Out of those conversations I’ve been producing short Q&As for the ‘Symbl for Startups’ Medium page. These Q&As are helping to highlight innovative startups to new audiences as well as potential investors.

“Life as an early stage founder can be beyond hectic, so it feels good to support them in the ways that I can at Symbl.ai.”
