Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.
This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.

Okta is The World’s Identity Company, and we are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team as a dedicated business partner to the Marketing organization.

In this role, you will be the financial co-pilot for the CMO organization, helping to manage a significant portion of Okta’s investment in growth. You won’t just track the numbers; you will help shape them. You will partner with Marketing Leadership & Operations to drive ROI-based decision-making, ensuring we are deploying capital efficiently to drive pipeline and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Partnering: Serve as the point person for all Marketing budget-related questions. Develop deeper, strategic partnerships with a handful of key verticals (e.g., Demand Gen, Digital, Product Marketing), building strong relationships with budget owners to interpret financial results and influence operational decisions.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the monthly and quarterly forecasting cycles for Marketing Opex and Headcount in Anaplan, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with shifting business priorities. Serve as the point person to review and approve POs and spend.
  • Recruiting & Headcount Partnership: Partner closely with Recruiting, the Chief of Staff, and HR to keep headcount forecasts and hiring pace aligned with the approved plan, flagging variances early.
  • Performance Analysis & Executive Reporting: Prepare and present monthly Budget vs. Actuals (BvA) decks, along with other impactful presentations for QBRs, Ops Reviews, and CMO/Finance leadership meetings. Dig into variance drivers, identify risks/opportunities, and articulate the "why" behind the numbers.
  • Pipeline & ROI Modeling: Go beyond the Opex — support pipe gen forecasting and funnel analysis (e.g., funnel conversion and velocity) alongside key marketing efficiency metrics such as Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), LTV, and Marketing ROI. Partner with Marketing Ops to help the business understand program spend efficiency and pipeline health.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, or Investment Banking (SaaS/Software experience preferred).
  • Financial Modeling: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides skills, with the ability to build complex models and executive-ready presentations from scratch.
  • Communication: Ability to distill complex financial data into clear, actionable narratives for non-finance leaders.
  • Systems: Familiarity with Anaplan, NetSuite, Coupa, Salesforce, Workday, and Tableau is a plus.
  • AI Proficiency: Comfortable leveraging AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini) to accelerate analysis, automate reporting, and drive productivity gains.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision.

Bonus Points

  • Experience supporting a Go-To-Market (Sales or Marketing) organization.
  • Understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, Churn, Retention, Magic Number).
  • Comfortable working in a high-growth environment where priorities shift fast.
  • Experience presenting financial analysis directly to senior or executive leadership.
  • Interest in building scalable, self-serve reporting and dashboards for business partners.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
