Own Temporal Nexus strategy, roadmap, execution, customer discovery, adoption, and cross-functional enablement. Drive delivery of developer experience, operator controls, connector foundations, identity, rate limits, and encryption while shaping future capabilities such as the Connector Ecosystem, Service Hub, and Agentic Communication Fabric. Partner with engineering, customers, field teams, and GTM to prioritize work, define success metrics, launch effectively, and establish Nexus as a durable connectivity layer for distributed systems and AI infrastructure.

Serve as the primary customer-facing technical leader for major accounts in the Western U.S. Guide prospects and customers through technical evaluations, distributed-system architecture, prototypes, implementation, and production adoption. Own the external communications and social presence of Temporal’s co-founders and CEO/CTO. Ghostwrite technical essays, posts, bylines, and executive messaging; prepare founders for keynotes, customer meetings, podcasts, and media engagements; and partner with Product Marketing and Media Relations. The role requires strong developer communications experience, technical fluency, independent judgment, and frequent travel for in-person collaboration.

Deliver production-ready Temporal implementations with customer and partner engineering teams. Design reliable workflow patterns, deploy and operate Temporal Server in cloud or self-hosted environments, establish scaling and observability standards, and resolve complex technical issues. Create runbooks, templates, documentation, workshops, and training to enable independent customer operations. Provide implementation feedback to product and engineering teams while reducing escalations.

Design, build, test, document, and operate core backend features for highly scalable, multi-tenant distributed services. The role focuses on concurrency, reliability, latency, scale, multi-region failover, availability, production observability, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks. Staff Engineers also contribute to enterprise on-premise and cloud offerings, improve team velocity, and provide technical leadership across backend systems.

Leads and scales Temporal’s global technical support organization for complex developer and infrastructure issues. Establishes support operations, SLAs, triage, escalation, incident response, RCA, quality, staffing, and performance systems. Develops technical talent, reduces avoidable Engineering escalations, improves customer communications, and partners cross-functionally to convert support insights into product and documentation improvements. Represents Temporal in strategic escalations, critical incidents, enterprise support discussions, and executive readouts.

Own customer production readiness and activation for Temporal platforms, driving initial workflows into stable, scalable production. Establish reliability, observability, alerting, governance, and operational standards; resolve complex technical issues; manage technical risks, migrations, and architectural debt. Lead KPI-driven success plans, cross-functional delivery, technical reviews, training, and customer enablement while supporting adoption, renewals, and growth.

Design, build, and operate highly scalable, multi-tenant cloud storage systems for workflow data. Responsibilities include developing persistence APIs, storage abstractions, replication paths, caches, tiered storage, and observability; improving reliability and performance through SLOs, chaos testing, profiling, and incident reviews; leading technical designs, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across teams.

Serve as the frontline technical expert for Temporal’s developer community. Deploy and scale cloud-native infrastructure, troubleshoot distributed systems, optimize performance, improve reliability, and build automation and observability solutions. Work directly with developers and engineering teams on Kubernetes, networking, monitoring, and infrastructure best practices. Translate customer use cases into architecture recommendations and influence platform improvements through strong technical communication.

Build and operate backend services and data pipelines for Temporal Cloud, including namespace provisioning, audit logs, and export. Responsibilities include designing scoped features, improving scalability and reliability, managing high-volume multi-tenant data, and enhancing observability through testing, instrumentation, dashboards, alerts, and runbooks. The role involves code reviews, incident response, production debugging, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement of developer and customer experiences.
