Design, build, and operate highly scalable, multi-tenant cloud storage systems for workflow data. Responsibilities include developing persistence APIs, storage abstractions, replication paths, caches, tiered storage, and observability; improving reliability and performance through SLOs, chaos testing, profiling, and incident reviews; leading technical designs, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across teams.

Build and operate Temporal Cloud’s managed compute platform, including autoscaling systems, multi-tenant execution services, cloud integrations, control and data plane boundaries, security controls, observability, and reliability practices. Lead API design, rollout, incident response, technical reviews, cross-team collaboration, and mentorship for production platform capabilities.

Build and evolve Nexus interfaces across Temporal SDKs, integrating language runtimes with durable, deterministic workflow execution. Design APIs, implement concurrent distributed-system features, support multiple programming languages, collaborate with open-source communities, debug complex issues, and document technical concepts. The role also contributes foundational runtime capabilities for agentic AI systems and requires occasional coworker travel.

Own the product strategy and roadmap for Temporal’s self-hosted and hybrid deployment offerings. Lead improvements to installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, operational tooling, storage choices, multi-region and multi-cloud topologies, and Temporal Proxy. Partner with Engineering, Resident Architects, Security, Support, and customer-facing teams to translate enterprise requirements into reliable, operable infrastructure products, particularly for regulated and controlled environments.

Own strategy and roadmap for Temporal’s Core Primitives charter. Translate customer and developer signals into platform investments, partner with engineering and SDK teams across server, APIs, and Cloud, and improve developer experience, reliability, and production operations. Define success metrics, boundaries, documentation, examples, migration guidance, and launch narratives while balancing open-source, Cloud, and enterprise needs.

Leads the strategy, architecture, development, and operations of Temporal’s large-scale, multi-tenant compute platform. Builds and manages a high-ownership engineering team, drives roadmap execution, reliability, incident response, capacity planning, fleet utilization, cost efficiency, and customer alignment. Guides distributed-systems decisions involving workload isolation, security, scheduling, resource management, performance, virtualization, serverless infrastructure, and future accelerated GPU compute.
