The Contracts Director will negotiate complex commercial agreements for AI, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS offerings; develop templates, playbooks, AI-enabled processes, and risk frameworks; and improve contract lifecycle management and legal tooling. The role partners with Sales, Finance, Operations, Product, and senior leadership to support scalable go-to-market operations, automate processes, manage strategic initiatives, and provide practical risk guidance.

Serves as a strategic people advisor to CPTO leaders, supporting workforce planning, organizational design, change management, talent and succession planning, performance and compensation decisions, employee relations, engagement, retention, and data-driven HR initiatives. Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot large-scale global backbone and data center networks. Automate network provisioning and compliance using Python, Golang, and Salt; develop scalable routing and connectivity solutions; conduct capacity planning; optimize performance and availability; lead architecture reviews, maintenance windows, incident response, and network deployments; and provide technical guidance and documentation.

Build and operate DigitalOcean’s managed agent runtime platform for secure, scalable AI coding agents and agentic workflows. Responsibilities include distributed services, agent framework integrations, control-plane APIs, execution orchestration, sandboxed environments, developer APIs, observability, reliability, and end-to-end feature ownership. The role requires extensive backend engineering experience, AI/LLM integration expertise, distributed systems knowledge, and experience with cloud infrastructure, orchestration, databases, and high-throughput APIs.

Design, deploy, optimize, and scale production AI and agentic workloads for strategic customers on DigitalOcean’s AI-Native Cloud. Build benchmarking systems, deployment frameworks, automation tooling, starter kits, and operational playbooks. Optimize inference performance, GPU efficiency, latency, reliability, and cost across distributed systems. Validate new platform capabilities, influence product roadmaps, collaborate with vendors and partners, and enable customer-facing teams through reference architectures and technical guidance. Travel up to 30% for customer engagements, workshops, conferences, and collaboration.

Develop and maintain scalable control-plane software for DigitalOcean’s network products, including APIs, services, and tools. Responsibilities include implementing, testing, optimizing, and supporting reliable distributed systems; collaborating across networking teams; improving developer and customer experiences; establishing engineering best practices; and contributing to architecture, monitoring, performance, and mission-critical platform reliability.

Leads complex Agentic AI programs from planning and prototyping through production deployment. Partners with Product, Engineering, AI Research, platform, developer experience, and external partners to coordinate delivery, manage risks, resolve blockers, align stakeholders, and improve program processes. Translates technical AI/ML tradeoffs into decisions and action plans while building scalable operational practices that accelerate reliable delivery of AI capabilities.

Lead global communications strategy, unify PR, corporate and analyst relations, manage digital and social channels, establish KPIs and attribution, provide C-suite media counsel, and build and mentor a high-performing communications team to increase brand awareness, manage crises, and drive business impact.

Own the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for DigitalOcean’s managed agentic AI infrastructure products. Define developer experiences, APIs, CLIs, documentation, pricing, packaging, and launch plans for services supporting long-running agents, tool execution, state management, secure sandboxes, identity, observability, and scale. Partner with customers, engineering, finance, security, legal, design, and go-to-market teams to turn emerging agent infrastructure needs into reliable, commercially successful products.

Design and implement high-performance distributed control plane services and microservices in Go. Lead complex technical initiatives, develop gRPC and REST interfaces, solve distributed-systems and operational challenges, mentor engineers, improve architecture and workflows, and support production systems through on-call monitoring and incident response.
