Own end-to-end integration testing for IonQ’s quantum computing software and systems. Design automated test suites, CI infrastructure, system-level test strategies, performance validation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing. Manage test fleet configurations, triage failures, report regressions, and improve testability across software, hardware, and physics teams. The role also supports operator tooling, calibration workflows, test observability, and reliable shared quantum computing environments.

Own the product vision and roadmap for IonQ’s next-generation quantum systems, beginning with Superion 256. Partner with customers, scientists, engineers, and business teams to translate frontier quantum capabilities into differentiated cloud and on-premises products. Define system requirements, prioritize investments and tradeoffs, validate market opportunities, guide customer adoption, and shape future product generations based on deployment outcomes.

Provides advanced IT help desk support for more than 1,100 global users, including executive support, hardware and software deployment, audiovisual systems, mobile device management, printing, asset tracking, and troubleshooting. Handles escalations, on-call incidents, documentation, knowledge-base development, and root-cause analysis. Also trains junior technicians and supports IT service, incident, and change management processes.

Own end-to-end on-premises quantum system deployments and build a scalable Deployment Excellence function. Lead cross-functional execution across engineering, facilities, manufacturing, installation, and operations; create standardized deployment processes, runbooks, governance, escalation paths, and dashboards; manage initial customer deliveries; and translate field lessons into product improvements. Ensure predictable go-live outcomes, customer satisfaction, and successful handoff to field teams.

Leads cross-functional technical programs across IonQ’s application platform, developer tools, and compiler roadmap. Translates technical vision into milestones, manages dependencies and risks, maintains planning and tracking systems, exposes technical debt and operational work, and reports data-driven status to senior leadership. The role supports approximately 40 engineers across four teams and requires navigating ambiguity, technical tradeoffs, staffing, customer-facing work, and AI-driven program-management workflows.

Owns enterprise endpoint architecture, operating system images, zero-touch provisioning, UEM/MDM platforms, and multi-OS deployment across macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu Linux. Designs and manages Workday-to-Okta identity lifecycle automation for onboarding, transfers, and terminations. Serves as the Tier-3 escalation point for IAM and provisioning issues, develops technical documentation and runbooks, mentors administrators and support teams, and coordinates with hardware vendors and provisioning teams.

The Software Engineering Director will lead the development of IonQ's quantum cloud platform, directing API design, managing cross-functional projects, and aligning technology initiatives with business goals.

Lead the design and development of a billing and payments platform, ensuring it meets business goals and technical requirements while mentoring other engineers.

Lead and grow a developer tools team building SDKs and libraries to access quantum computers and simulators. Act as a player-coach contributing to code, drive technical delivery, partner across functions, participate in developer community engagement, define program management practices and KPIs, and hire key staff to scale the team.

Lead design and delivery of a hosted hybrid quantum-classical service: define execution models, specify HPC/classical infrastructure, build reusable quantum workloads and SDKs, establish development and CI/CD best practices, collaborate with Cloud/HPC/Product teams, and mentor/build the engineering team.
