Associate Director and Corporate Counsel will lead international legal support for BetterHelp’s expansion across Europe and other markets. Responsibilities include advising on contracts, privacy and GDPR, telehealth regulation, marketing and consumer protection, employment matters, litigation, compliance, government inquiries, and market launches. The role negotiates agreements, manages outside counsel, supports privacy operations, and partners with product, marketing, and business teams. Remote work is available, with travel to San Jose up to three times annually plus one company-wide offsite.

Design, deploy, and maintain reliable production and corporate systems; manage configuration, security, and core infrastructure; participate in on-call incident response; build automation, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code; monitor systems and develop tools to improve reliability and availability.

Recruit licensed therapists for BetterHelp’s insurance network by managing outreach, calls, appointments, follow-ups, and onboarding coordination. The role optimizes provider acquisition processes, handles high-volume communication, and works independently with onboarding and credentialing teams to successfully expand the therapist network.

Own the therapist compensation, incentives, and supply economics product for a two-sided mental health marketplace. Define network supply needs, design earnings models, run controlled experiments, measure business impact, and improve therapist availability, matching, and continuity of care. Partner cross-functionally with finance, clinical, legal, marketing, data science, operations, and product teams while setting strategy and owning key performance indicators.

Build and own BetterHelp’s internal AI enablement stack for engineering, product, and design teams. Develop AI agents, automations, MCP connectors, prompt and skill libraries, and governed knowledge systems. Lead experiments from infrastructure setup through secure deployment and maintenance, using AWS and Terraform. Drive organizational adoption through change management, training, governance, and enablement programs while operating autonomously within a regulated environment.

Design, productionize, and scale machine learning and optimization models, pipelines, libraries, and deployment platforms. Partner with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver ML capabilities, personalization systems, and reusable end-to-end workflows. Establish ML engineering best practices, troubleshoot data pipelines, mentor junior professionals, and help define BetterHelp’s ML platform strategy.

Lead BetterHelp’s organic brand and distribution strategy across social, creators, partnerships, community, long-form content, PR amplification, and emerging channels. Build audience-first channel strategies, creator relationships, cultural activations, international distribution, measurement frameworks, compliance systems, and AI-assisted workflows. Manage and mentor a growing team, budgets, agencies, and partners while connecting organic, earned, and paid distribution to expand brand relevance and reach.

Develop and own full-stack web features from design through deployment, monitoring, and optimization. Build APIs, backend services, responsive user experiences, SQL queries, and relational database schemas. Modernize legacy systems, troubleshoot performance issues, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with product and design teams in an agile continuous-delivery environment. The role emphasizes secure, maintainable, scalable code, technical ownership, and thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools.

Provides corporate legal counsel for BetterHelp’s B2B and direct-to-consumer operations. Drafts and negotiates enterprise, partnership, marketing, affiliate, reseller, referral, vendor, and healthcare agreements. Advises on HIPAA, FTC, privacy, information security, telehealth, healthcare, and advertising regulations. Partners with sales, product, marketing, engineering, compliance, and operations to operationalize agreements and support digital health partnerships.

Serve as a strategic commercial finance partner across cash-pay and insurance-covered businesses. Own driver-based forecasting, financial modeling, performance analysis, business cases, KPI reporting, and executive communications. Analyze payer dynamics, reimbursement, revenue cycle, unit economics, marketing ROI, and customer cohorts to inform senior leadership and drive strategic decisions. Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Analytics, Operations, Accounting, and FP&A on scalable models and processes.
